ABOUT

Timothy Raymond Jones is an accomplished pianist and organist who has been noted for his ability since his youth. Possessing the gifts of perfect pitch and a phenomenal memory, his repertoire spans hundreds of works from the Classical to Modern eras, including as well many hymns and folk/popular selections. Timothy currently works as the Braille Music Librarian at the Library of Congress in Washington DC, fulfilling his goal of opening the study of music to other visually impaired persons.

Timothy also gives limited private lessons, both in piano (for both sighted and VI students) and in Music Braille and Assistive Technology to VI students for all ages, upon request.

Timothy holds a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from Mercer University (Townsend School of Music), from which he graduated summa cum laude in 2019, and a Master's in Piano Pedagogy (2021) from Georgia State University. He studied under Dr. Jack Mitchener (MU), Dr. Ian Altman (MU), and Dr. Jeffrey Hayden (GSU).

Timothy is a recipient of the Pennfield Scholarship, the Excellence in Performance Award (organ), the prestigious Irl Allison Award (a mark achieved by few piano students, representing sixteen unbroken years of Superior ratings from the National Piano Guild Auditions), and the Paderewski Gold Medal in piano. During his college years, he maintained active memberships in Phi Eta Sigma, Mu Phi Epsilon, and Sigma Alpha Pi/National Honor Society of Leadership and Success.
